67. History of GharWaapsi of Vithon village

Shri Dhirajbhai Ladharambhai Bhagat
– Vithon

Vithon village is located in the Kutch region of Gujarat State, around 4 kilometers from the highway leading from Nakhtrana to Bhuj. The village was named Vithon because of its location near the surrounding villages of Sant and Sura. The village tower was built in the year Savant 1666 (AD 1609-10) through Bhadli and Tharavada by Mankuwa, Sant Sri Gopal Bapa’s son Shivji Bapa, and grandson Sant Sri Khetabapa. This village was known for its bravery and devotion. In earlier times, when two villages suffering from problems couldn’t find a solution, 11 villages would come together. If the problem still remained unsolved, three Panchada villages would come together and Vithon would make a decision in the middle. It was to the credit of the elders of this village and the surrounding elders that there was no irony in the decisions taken in this way.

The building where the bank is now used to be a meadow where the problems of all the villages were solved. At that time, the Samaj wadi was a double-storied house with a large space and terrace. Due to the very good arrangement, if the uncles from Pirana were visiting Kutch, they would first drop off at Vithon. Later, they would visit other villages of Kutch. The senior elders revealed that a Dharamshala was built in Ahmedabad with the efforts and wisdom of our Kanbi brothers, identified as Kakana Della. When our brothers and sisters went to Pirana, they used to land there and spend the night. From time to time, the Syeds made a case for the place which our brothers lost and the Kakana Della made by our brothers passed into the hands of the Syeds.

Some enlightened elders gradually started thinking about reform, which led to the transformation of what was first known as the Khana, the place, the Jyotish Dham, and the immaculate Narayana Mandir. People used to bear everything and say nothing for fear of the Ghedras and the fear of being killed. But things started changing, and wires of reform were blown in the minds of some enlightened elders.

In central Mumbai, the village elder Shri Shantilal Walji Pokar, along with Pujya Narayanji Bapa Limbani, started the Sanatan movement in the village of Vithon. In 1946, the Lakshminarayan temple was established, where the Panmurthy of Lord Lakshminarayana Narayana was installed. The Panmurthy was found in the house of elder Shri Shivdasbhai Karamashibhai Nayani and was later placed in the temple where it remains to this day.

The establishment of the temple was met with opposition, but after general protests and the qualities of saints, the idol of Lord Shri Lakshminarayan was consecrated in 1956. The entire Patidar community also participated in the consecration by providing three days of meals and a gift of Rs 501/-.

Due to the wise elders’ presence, the village always remained away from disputes. Sri Premji Punja Vasani, president of Kendriya Samaj and a village elder, was concerned about how to bring the remaining families into the ideology of Sanat. In the Nagpancham meeting of 1963, the elder Mr. Raiyabhai Shamjibhai Narsingani presented that their family would go to Lakshminarayana, which Valji Bapa Nakrani also supported. Still, Premji Bapa wanted a complete change and suggested that a few families might be left behind and urged the community to wait a little longer and make a complete change.

In 1965, due to Premjibap’s wisdom and foresight, the remaining families in Vithon decided to join the ideology of complete Sanat. The Dhaja above the place was not taken down, but elder Shri Karamashi Premji Padmani removed it and installed the Panmurthy of Lord Shri Satyanarayana in the tube house, blessing the entire village with Sanatan.

In 1973, the two-storied Shri Satyanarayana Bhagwan temple was built by the entire village by donating the land to this tube-shaped house. Elder Shri Premji Punja Vasani was the first President of Shri Satyanarayan Mandir Samaj and the founder president of Lakshminarayan Dharma Prachar Samiti.

Despite two societies in Vithon at present, the village’s Yuva Mandal and Mahila Mandal are jointly one, celebrating every festival together. This unity motivates the progress of Vithon village and helps raise the graph of the Lakshminarayan religion while gradually explaining and eradicating the ideology of Satpanth in the minds of the people.
