The Patidar community group, which is deeply rooted in the Khanapanthi sect, has been the subject of a fierce campaign since the massacres of Hindus in Punjab, Calcutta, and other provinces in 1947. It’s crucial for us to remember our first reformers, Pujya Naranji Bapa Kesrabapa Odhavajiram so that we are not called Naguna. Our sect had forgotten the Ishtadev and Kuldevata and started worshipping people like Imamshah instead. Our brave men worked tirelessly to bring out a large group of communities from Khanapanthi. They wore turbans of humiliation to show the right direction to the community and worked very hard.
During the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971, a large number of Hindu families were forced to migrate from Pakistan. They arrived in Kutch and urged us to convert to Hinduism by telling our elders about the atrocious language of the Muslim people. At that time, the food shops that were running in the remote villages of Kutch started to shut down gradually. The change of management for seven years did not work. This led to the establishment of Jyotidham, Jyotimandir, Nishkalankidham, and finally, Nishkalanki Narayan temple, replacing the Khana and Imamshah’s place.
The villages of Vithon, Dhawda, Sanganara, and Sanyara (Yaksha) in Nakhtrana taluka have become almost entirely Sanat villages. However, there are still a few families in these villages who speak the curd-milk language.
About 50 years ago, in Anandsar village, our elder Late Karsan Meghji Limbani, took the initiative to make the Patidar people of the village Sanatani. He accepted the change and reality by taking the mat of the Imamshah and placing the pan idol of Lakshmi Narayan himself. He started the Sanat movement in the village by taking down the banner of Satpanth’s religious place, “Jagya”. However, the Khanpanths gave misleading propaganda and threats. But the Patidar community, being steadfast like Karsan Bapa, made it difficult to walk on the right path.
Karsan Bapa also constructed a temple from the site and performed aarti to Lord Lakshminarayan. He made a valuable contribution to creating an atmosphere of Sanat in the village. The Sanat movement has been established and achieved success in many villages.
