53. Modasa's newly built Umiya Mata temple became the center of Sanatan consciousness

Shri Vasantbhai Rajabhai Limbani
– Modasa

“Shree Kutch Kadva Patidar Pragati Mandal” was established in the year 1962 by the caste brothers living in 72 Kampas coming under Modasa division and Modasa city. Under whose aegis they were organized and doing various social activities. This divisional society constructed Shree Kutch Kadva Patidar Samaj Wadi at Modasa which was used for celebrating various social or religious occasions.

“Shree Kutch Kadva Patidar Samaj Modasa Divisional Samaj” established K. P. Vidyarthi Bhavan, Girls Hostel and H.L. Patel Saraswati Vidyalaya run by Shree Uma Kelavani Mandal.

Around the year 1975-78, about 40 families living in Modasa city were refused to use this Samaj Wadi for celebrating social or religious occasions. So the brothers of Pragati Mandal living in the city organized two shows of a drama named “Paisa Ni Sagai” in the year 1982, collected funds for Samaj Wadi and purchased land on Meghraj Road for Rs. 2,01,111/-. When stamp papers were prepared to get its deed done in the name of Pragati Mandal, some friends raised objections, so the deed of that land was done in the name of Divisional Samaj and some elders of Pragati Mandal and removing the name of Pragati Mandal sowed the seeds of dispute. This land remained unused.

Subsequently, Pragati Mandal purchased new land on the same road by the name of “Shree Kutch Kadva Patidar Pragati Mandal – Umiya Chowk”. On one hand negotiations for the old land were going on, which were settled on 03-June-1997. In which it was decided to construct Kuldevi Shree Umiya Mataji Temple, Shiv Temple and Dining Hall on that land with everyone’s cooperation and for its administration, to make a constitution and form Shree Kutch Kadva Patidar Samaj Trust, in which it was decided to include 8 members of Pragati Mandal and 3 members of Divisional Samaj and 1 member Shri Naranbhai Vishrambhai Patel – Anandpura Kampa. On 07-May-1999, its Bhumi Pujan was done with fanfare. Dates 8/2 and 10/2 – 2006 were decided for the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) of the temple. But the greed for power of Satpanthis gave birth to a dispute. They gave forms in the trust to make a large number of Satpanthi members as members at once. Power-hungry Satpanthis became desperate to remove the point of 8+3 members from the constitution and filed cases in the court. Due to which the Pratishtha Mahotsav was stopped. The arrived idols were kept at Vasantbhai Rajabhai Limbani’s house.

Therefore, Shree Kutch Kadva Patidar Sanatan Samaj Modasa Division was established in 2006 by the brothers of 72 Kampa Sanatan. Shri Khimjibhai Arjanbhai Dholu was appointed as its president. Along with Zone President Punambhai Khimjibhai Dholu Madasana Kampa – Trust Secretary Dahyabhai Jivrajbhai Gorani and Vasantbhai Rajabhai Limbani were given authority to take action and it was decided to cooperate.

On 14/04/2006, Pan Murti (image on leaf) of Shree Umiya Mataji was placed in the temple at the hands of Gitaba Gadhvi and all Sanatani elders and youths started doing Seva Puja daily. In the year 2012, Pragati Mandal President Vasantbhai Rajabhai Limbani called a General Meeting. In which about 54 Satpanthi members who cooperated in stopping the Pratishtha of Umiya Mataji and made false applications in court and society against the interest of Pragati Mandal were removed at once and Pragati Mandal became completely Sanatani.

First Sneh Milan (get-together) of Shree Kutch Kadva Patidar Sanatan Samaj Modasa Division was organized in large numbers in Shree Umiya Mataji Temple premises on 20-05-2007.

On 24 and 25/01/2009, a program of Rath (chariot) of Bhagwan Shree Laxminarayan coming from Kutch Sanskar Dham was organized by Shree Kutch Kadva Patidar Sanatan Samaj Modasa Division and Pragati Mandal. Satpanthis did a heinous act of stopping the Rath by making applications in the police department so that this Rath does not come in the compound of Umiya Mataji Temple and Shobhayatra (procession) does not start from there. But Sanatanis of Modasa city and surrounding Kampas along with members of Central Samaj – Yuva Sangh, Dhansura, Dahegam, Himatnagar, Vadali, Amirgarh Sanatan Samaj remained present in large numbers and they cooperated with body, mind and wealth. A 4 km long Shobhayatra of Bhagwan Shree Laxminarayan was taken out in Modasa city and saffron was waved in the entire city. After that a huge meeting was held and everyone took Mahaprasad with Sanatani oath.

Sanatani members became aware by this heinous act of Pirana Panthis and meetings for Sanatan Dharma awakening started from Dhansura were held across the country. Thus Modasa Umiya Mataji Temple dispute did a monumental task of highlighting Sanatan consciousness among caste members. Taking inspiration from the incident of becoming pure Sanatan Samaj by removing Satpanth members from Pragati Mandal of Modasa city, component societies of Talod, Vadagam, Dhansura, Bayad, Himatnagar, Idar etc. located in this area also followed as per the white paper, assumed the form of Sanatan Samaj and welcomed the approach of Central Samaj by adding the word Sanatan in the name of the society.
