48 -An Initiative to spread awareness of Sanatan Dharm at Dhansura

Shri Amrutbhai Ramani
– Ex-Secretary Dhansura Sanatan Samaj

The formation construction of Sanatani Samaj and Hostel at Dhansura

The Patidars of Kutch left their homeland and ventured into the world to make a living. Many of them chose agriculture and settled in Sabarkantha, Kheda Panthak. Those who embraced the culture passed down by the saints formed the Alaydu Sanat organization, which was attached to Gurgadi of Ishwar Ashram Bandhay. During the last camp of the country’s independence in 1943 at Rampura Kampa (Aniyor Kampa), the enlightened brothers of this area held a convention and established the Shri Kutch Kadwa Patidar Sanatan Samaj (Gujarat) in Dhansura. Shri Hansrajbhai Naran Pokar became the first president, and Karshanbhai Pachan Deewani was appointed as the minister after the discussions.

During 1977-78, members of the Samaj, who had Satpanthi beliefs, campaigned to add a large number of Piranapanthis from Wadali and other areas into the Samaj. They also demanded the removal of the word “Sanatan” from the Samaj’s name. The situation became complicated and went to court, with 17 terms being contested. Eventually, when the court’s verdict seemed to favor Sanatan, the Piranapanthi leaders requested to sit together with the Sanat leaders to reconcile. A meeting was held with the ardent Sanat leaders of Mumbai, and it was decided that the name of the society would remain unchanged. Thus, the Sri Kutch Kadwa Patidar Sanatan Samaj (Gujarat) still proudly stands in the Kampa area, waving its victory pillar.

In April 1954, a three-day conference was held at Hirapur Kampa as part of Santshri Dayal Dasji Maharaj’s decade-long pilgrimage for religious awareness. The conference was attended by community people, including leaders such as Ratanshi Khimji Khetani and Rajaram Dholu, who were associated with Sanatan Dharma awareness work outside Gujarat. Santshri Odhavaram Maharaj was also present. During the conference, Maharajshree emphasized the importance of education as the foundation for the upliftment of society. This led to the establishment of a community boarding school in the intermediate position of the Kampa region, and an amount of Rs. 60,175/- was collected in the meeting itself. Elder Shri Becharbhai Bhavani, former General Secretary of Dhansura Samaj, Motisari Kampawala, who was a witness of this event, said that Saint Odhavaram Maharaj was allowed to stand on one leg and offer alms at point 150.34 of volume 1 of this book, which is not in the published report. As a result of the conference, the first Kelawani Dham (Kumar Hostel) was gifted to the society. Later, in 1968, the first girls’ hostel of the community was built in Dhansura.

Thanks to the blessings of the saints and the growing awareness of education in society, high schools were established in various locations such as Takhatgarh, Ranjitpura, Motesari, Amlai, Ramapir Kampa, and Vajepura Kampa. In the year 2001, Sri Odhav Vidya Mandir was founded in Dhansura in memory of Poojya Odhavaram Maharaj.

In 2024, the Sanat Mass Lagnatsava will mark its 25th year of celebration. This event takes place annually on Vasant Panchami and is organized by the youth wing of the Dhansura Samaj.

As a result of the efforts of the Sanat Shri Ganesh Dham organization and the promotion of education, the Kampa area became the pioneer of Sanat society and education in the country. Subsequently, this education model began to spread to other parts of the country as well.

Jagruti monthly newsletter

The model of education, established in Sabarkantha in 1965, spread to other parts of the country. That same year, the “Awareness” monthly newsletter was published with the aim of creating societal awareness through revolutionary ideas. Shri Shamjibhai Naranbhai Dholo (Talod-now Goa) was appointed as its first editor. The promotion and circulation of Jajurti Monthly was not limited to Sabarkantha, but its readers and consumers were from all over India. After him, Mr. Kantibhai Khimjibhai Patel of Timba Kampa-Harsol served as editor for a long time. The awareness month continued until 1983. In the last few years, the Shri Akhil Bharatiya Kutch Kadwa Patidar Yuva Sangh also tried to publish Jaw.

Sanat’s religious articles are now published monthly, serving as a historical witness.

Sanatan Dharma Awakening First Contemplative Meeting – Dhansura

The Sanatani brothers from the Modasa division proposed an idea that led to the climax of Odasa. The first thought meeting of Sanatan Dharma awareness at Dhansura was held under the “Cleaning Campaign” by the President of Dhansura Sanatan Samaj, with Shivdas Ratna Mavani as the chairman. During the meeting, Himantbhai Khetani, Rameshbhai Waghdia, and Premjibhai Keshrani gave passionate speeches that strengthened the Sanat’s passion among all the members. As a result, Dhansura Panthaka once again became a beacon of eternal consciousness.

Thus, Dhansura Panthaka once again became a beacon of eternal consciousness. Then, this Sanat trio like Lal, Bal and Pal spread the light of Sanat in the entire community through 66 Sanatan Dharma awareness meetings across India.
