The Ramani family of Nakhatrana who renounced the post of Mukhi (Leadership)
where Sanatan dharma is a source of personal benefits, social gain and financial gain
Our great-grandfather Veerjibhai Abjibhai Mukhi (Ramani) spoke Satpanth in Nakhtrana. His three sons were Kesharabhai, Dhanjibhai, and Karamashibhai Virjibhai Ramani.
As Veerjibapa (Mukhi) reached adulthood, discussions arose about his sons inheriting the chieftainship. Eventually, the decision was made for him to assume leadership. During this time, the Ghederas and Syeds from Pirana also arrived.

Although it may appear to be a minor incident, there is a significant underlying message. Nowadays, people often convert religions for financial gain, or due to a weak mindset. For instance, even though Pirana is a Muslim household, some people may convert for monetary benefits. Similarly, there are instances where individuals abandon their means of livelihood for personal benefits in the name of Sanatan Dharma or to attain a high position in society. However, the Ramani family deserves praise for their unwavering commitment to their faith and principles. |
After the ritual was completed, the Sayyids rinsed their mouths with water and collected it in a plate. It was believed that the water in the plate, known as Charanmrut, had holy properties and could be consumed by those who wished to partake in its benefits.
During that time, Veerjibapa (Mukhi) and our three grandfathers opposed the proposal. The Syeds were informed that we would prefer to carry out the task in our own manner, and we refused to comply with their instructions. Additionally, we refused to consume their contaminated water. We demanded honesty and requested them to provide us with clean water.
And because of this, our family relinquished leadership.
