Nakhtrana, the capital of our society, is situated in the innermost region of Kutch. In 1960, our elders established a hostel for education in Nakhtrana, as there was no community-run educational complex in the city. Later, an Arts and Commerce College was started by the Leva Patidar Samaj at Nakhtrana, sponsored by GMDC from Shri Kutch Vidya Pratisthan. However, the college did not receive any government assistance and was facing financial difficulties.

Shri R. R. Patel and Hirani Sahib, the then honorable trustee of Kutch Vidya Pratisthan, frequently met with the leading rabbis of our society – Shri Ratibhai Manilal Ramani and Himmatbhai Ratanshi Khetani – in Mumbai. They discussed the challenges involved in administering and running the college. To overcome the financial constraints of the college and fund other activities of the library, Sri Kutch Vidya Pratisthan generously donated a significant sum of money. This paved the way for acquiring the college and establishing a link to ensure its smooth functioning.

The college was struggling financially, prompting the trustees of Kutch Vidya Pratisthan to suggest that our Kendray Samaj take over its operation. This would allow students from nearby areas to access higher education. With this goal in mind, our society has decided to acquire the institution.

In 2009, Dr. V. H. Patel, a respected member, torchbearer and trustee of the college society, proposed to acquire this self-financed college. The proposal was presented by Ratibhai Ramani in the executive meeting of the Central Society on 06-Aug-2009 and in the general meeting on 07-Aug-2009. The proposal was unanimously passed in both meetings.

Based on the available information, there was a presentation by the trustees to the executive of the Central Society. During this presentation, the trustees discussed the reasons for funding the operations of this college. At the end of the discussion, they decided to present the college to the government for grant consideration. To achieve this goal, anyone who donates at least five lakh rupees per year will become a trustee. As a result, Kutch Vidya Prestige was acquired and became trustees with the help of their friends from the lower rungs of society.

  2. Devji Ramji Bhavani: Surat
  3. Mansukhbhai Vishram Rudani: Ahmedabad
  4. Lakhamsi Ladha Vasani: Mumbai
  5. Shamji Naran Nakrani: Mumbai
  6. Ghansukhbhai Harji Limbani: Mankuwa
  7. Bhawanbhai Haribhai Limbani: Mumbai

These seven trustees took over the responsibility of managing the college for a period of three to four years. They made the necessary grants, but despite their efforts, the college did not become grantable. As a result, the society was requested to take over the management of the college and has been doing so since then. Over time, various representations were made to the government, and the college has now started receiving grants.

This college has a student population of 500, with 66% of them being females. This makes it a great institution for female students, especially since there are no other colleges within a 60 km radius. It is like an oasis in the middle of a desert. The college is known for maintaining a consistently high standard of education. In fact, 2-3 students from this college are usually in the top 10 of Kutch University results. Professor Dr. Mohanbhai Patel and Anand Vala have made significant contributions to this achievement. Additionally, the college boasts a large playground and is a leader in sports.
