91. The original sentiment behind appointing a Kaka27: History tells us that Syed Imamshah, in the final days of his life, employed a wise “Kaka” (who happened to be a Leva Patidar) to serve the Dargah of Pirana. Their primary responsibility was to oversee Imamshah’s tomb and assist the Hindu Satpanthis [74:Page 137] [88:Page 148]. Here, “Kaka” is an Arabic term that means “servant.” In the context of the Syeds, a “Kaka” referred to a caretaker appointed to manage the Dargah and a servant responsible for maintaining communication with the followers [50:Page 217, 220, 223, and 224] [156:Page 38].
91.1. Distribution of Pirana Earnings28 among the Syeds: The primary reason for bringing Kaka to the center of Pirana was to resolve the feuds among the sons of Nar Mohammad Shah29. After Nar Ali (also known as Muhammad Shah) passed away, he realized the need for an arrangement to divide the earnings of Pirana fairly among his feuding sons. To collect the money, the chief Kaka hired one of the sub-Kakas. Researchers suggest that Kaka’s position is a source of conspiracies, frauds, and scandals. Over time, Kaka’s power increased due to money. He began to consider himself as the master of religion and Panth. [156:Page 38, 39, 46, 55, 57, 58] [38:Page 446] [122:Page printed as 60 (but actually 62)] [158:Page 216, 219] [74:Page 135 to 137].
91.2. 2 names of kaka, one Hindu and one Muslim: Traditionally, Kaka has two names: one Hindu name and one Satpanthi name (Muslim name). For example, “Naya” Kaka was also called “Pir Naseeruddin,” [156:Page 51] while “Karsan” Kaka was known as “Pir Karim.” [50:Page 217].
91.3. Appointment of Sub-kakas: As per Article 18 of the Constitution, the appointment of sub-kakas is under the sole control of the Syeds. The chief kaka of Pirana is appointed from among the sub-kakas selected by such Syeds [142:Page 37-Clause 18]. Since the appointment of the chief kaka is made from among the sub-kakas, it is natural that the main kaka is also a favorite of the Syeds. This suggests that Muslims have indirect control over this religion. Therefore, it raises the question of why it is still referred to as Hinduism, which has not been clarified yet.
91.4. Rituals of kakas performed by Syeds: When a Gadapati Kaka is appointed, Syeds are responsible for performing his rituals. This requirement is stated in Clause 6 of the administrative scheme of the Pirana Constitution [142:Page 35-Clause 6]. The constitution, which was decided by the Civil Court of Ahmedabad, mandates that the Syed must perform the ritual of Kka before he can be appointed to the throne.
91.5. 92.5.91.5. It’s important to understand the religious rituals practiced by the Syeds in the Muslim religion. It’s also important to consider whether performing the ritual of the head of a sect, even by a Muslim, can be considered as part of Hinduism. |

92. Kaka’s Hindu guise despite being a Muslim: According to historians, there are instances where Islamic preachers disguised themselves as Brahmin or Hindu priests to slowly weaken Hinduism and encourage people to convert to Islam. This was a subtle way of conversion that discouraged followers from revealing their Hindu identity. As an example, Murtaza Ali depicted Talib as an incarnation of Vishnu, Brahma as Muhammad, Shiva as Baba Adam, and even portrayed Hindu goddesses as Muslim nuns. [51:Page 41, 63, 64 and 73].
92.1. Aga Khan case: Despite Satpanth being a Muslim religion, propagandists often don saffron and adopt a Hindu form. This can be attributed to the role of Islami taqiyya30, as explained in the Bombay High Court case of 1866, the Aga Khan case [25] [52]. For a more detailed understanding of this, Tina Purohit’s book “The Aga Khan Case” [141] provides a great resource.
92.2. Love-Unity-Harmony-Organisation: Upon initial inspection, the ideals of love, unity, harmony, and organization were presented to gain the approval of the Hindu and Muslim masses. The overarching belief being that there is only one God and that our blood is one, and that in order to progress, we must live together. The society allows for the practice of any religion, and it is understood that religion and society are separate entities.
93. In this particular setting, the individuals who were indoctrinated believed that they were authentic Hindus. Moreover, Satpanth was perceived as the genuine Hindu religion of Kali Yuga. As there were certain aspects that were convenient for everyone, it was unlikely for anyone to raise an objection. Consequently, no one would have suspected anything. Fortunately, the K.K.P community experienced a significant turning point in its history.
28 Distribution of earnings = The problem of distribution of earnings of Pirana was not there during the time of Imamshah. This problem occurred since Imamshah’s son Nur Muhammad Shah came to the throne. At the time of Imamshah, the earnings of Pirana were sent to an Iran-based Imam (i.e. the Nishkalanki Narayan). Nur Muhammadshah declares himself to be an Nishkalanki Narayan to keep the money/earnings to himself. This made the (Nizari) Khojas community out of the Imamshahis. Since then the Imamshahs split off from the original Islamic Khoja community and emerged as the Imamshah sect.
